Hurun India Art List 2024: Artists' Sales Hit Rs 301 Crore, Top 10 Artists On The List Are...

The collective sales of India's most successful artists reached a staggering Rs 301 crore, marking a 19% year-on-year growth, as per Hurun India Art List 2024.

The Hurun Research Institute released Hurun India Art List 2024 on Tuesday. This ranking showcases the achievements of the top 50 Indian artists, based on sales of their works at public auctions throughout the year ending on Jan. 1, 2024.

Among the notable highlights of the list, two artists made significant strides—Paresh Maity surged into the top 10 for the first time, while Thota Vaikuntam from Telangana reclaimed the ninth spot. Furthermore, an impressive 13 artists witnessed an extraordinary increase of over 100% in cumulative sales value, an uptick from 10 artists in the previous year.

Thota Vaikuntam notably stands out with an astounding 292% increase in sales value, closely followed by Ganesh Haloi at 291% and Surendran Nair at 262%. Notably, in the Hurun India Art List 2024, 92% of the featured artists have reported an upsurge in their sales value.

The demographic diversity among the artists is striking, with Krishen Khanna, aged 99, emerging as the eldest on the list. While, 27-year-old Raghav Babbar was the youngest.

AstaGuru Mumbai emerged as the leading art auction house, boasting the highest number of works sold in the Hurun India Art List 2024, with a total of 28 pieces finding new homes.

Arpita Singh continues to reign as the most accomplished living female artist in India, with her artwork fetching Rs 23 crore in sales.
