GM India sales down 27 pc in May

General Motors India today said its sales declined by 27.01 per cent at 6,079 units during May this year.

The company had sold 8,329 units in the same month of 2011.

Last month, the company sold 735 units of small car Spark, 4,110 units of hatchback Beat, 71 units of entry-level sedan Aveo, seven units of mid-sized sedan Optra and 188 units of luxury sedan Cruze.

It also sold 946 units of multi-purpose vehicle Tavera and 22 units of sports utility vehicle Captiva during the month.

General Motors India has completed 16 years of operation in India, starting its journey in 1996.

The automobile major now offers products under the Chevrolet brand, which was introduced in India in 2003.
