For Shah Rukh Khan, Happy New Year Makes Box-Office History
Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Happy New Year has hit yet another box-office milestone. Happy New Year in its first eight days grossed a total of nearly Rs 300 crore worldwide, according to a report from trade website koimoi.com. Happy New Year in terms of gross domestic business totaled Rs 237 crore and Rs 63 crore from overseas, the report added, giving a break-up of its collection.
For Shah Rukh Khan, Happy New Year is his second Rs 300 crore grosser after Chennai Express, says the report. This has catapulted Happy New Year to the list of all-time top 10 Bollywood grossers.
Released on Friday, Happy New Year also set new box-office records for first day as well as opening week collections. Produced by Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment and directed by Farah Khan, Happy New Year is a heist drama.
Speaking on the success of the film, Red Chillies Entertainment CEO Venky Mysore had earlier said, "Happy New Year has set another new benchmark. We are grateful for the ongoing love and support of audience."
Happy New Year also features Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, Sonu Sood, and Vivaan Shah.
