Delhi Metro Grey Line's extension Najafgarh – Dhansa Bus Stand will be inaugurated for passenger operations tomorrow, September 17, according to metro operator Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs along with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, will inaugurate the extended corridor of the Grey Line through video conference. Passenger operations will begin at 5:00 pm on Saturday, said DMRC in a recent statement.

With the extension of the corridor, the 4.3 km long Delhi Metro Grey Line has a total of four stations. The 891 metres long Najafgarh-Dhansa Bus Stand section will take the metro corridor further into Najafgarh's interior areas.

The Delhi Metro Grey Line assumes significance as it connects the rural pockets of Najafgarh with Dwarka. Earlier in 2019, the Delhi Metro Grey Line had a total of three stations, including Dwarka, Nangli, and Najafgarh. The metro line provides an interchange facility at the Dwarka station, for the Delhi Metro Blue Line - between Dwarka Sector-21 and Noida Electronic City and Vaishali.

The metro authorities constructed Najafgarh station as a dumbell-shaped as some private land could not be acquired by the authorities. DMRC had planned to construct the station in a rectangle shape.

For the first time across the metro network, the DMC has constructed an underground integrated parking facility at Dhansa Bus Stand metro station that will allow commuters to park their vehicles and directly move to the concourse area. It is the first ever underground metro station to have an entire underground floor dedicated for parking of vehicles.
