Cricket Legend Muralitharan To Invest Rs 1,400 Crore In Karnataka Beverage Unit

Sri Lankan cricket veteran Muttiah Muralitharan will invest Rs 1,400 crore in phases to establish a beverage and confectionery unit in Badanaguppe, Chamarajanagara district. This information was released by the office of Karnataka's Minister of Large and Medium Industries, MB Patil, on Tuesday.

The announcement followed a meeting between Muralitharan and Patil to discuss the project.

Muralitharan plans to produce beverages and confectioneries under the brand "Muttiah Beverages and Confectioneries," according to the statement.

Initially, the project was planned with an investment of Rs 230 crore. This has now been revised to a total of Rs 1,000 crore and will further increase to Rs 1,400 crore over a few years.

Patil mentioned that 46 acres of land have been allocated for the project, with manufacturing operations expected to begin in January 2025. He added that officials have been instructed to resolve minor issues related to the allocated land.

Patil also noted that Muralitharan plans to establish another unit in Dharwad in the near future.
