Tractor sales of Escorts Kubota Ltd. fell 6.1% year-on-year to 8,612 units in May 2024. The company had sold 9,167 tractors in the year-ago period.
Total sales down 6.1% YoY to 8,612 units vs 9,167 units.
Exports down 17.9% YoY to 380 units vs 463 units.
The company attributed the decline in sales to myriad reasons, not limited to cyclicality seen in the commercial-vehicle space.
The ongoing elections, low water levels in reservoirs, and reduced haulage in certain regions of the country due to heatwaves impacted sentiments on the ground, Escorts Kubota said in an exchange filing.
"However, with the forecast of a near- to above-normal monsoon this year, we anticipate an improvement in demand and industry performance post southwest monsoon."
