Anshuman Das appointed acting head of Nalco
Anshuman Das, who is currently Director (Commercial) of Nalco, has been given additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director of the state-owned aluminium maker.
The move was taken due to a pending Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) inquiry against present incumbent B L Bagra, who is also Director (Finance) of the company, official sources said.
In a filing to the BSE, National Aluminium Company (Nalco) said that Das assumed the additional charge yesterday after a Mines Ministry order.
Nalco has been without a full time chairman since February 27, 2011, when its then Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) A K Srivastava was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation in a bribery case.
Since then Bagra, the senior most Director on Nalco board, was spearheading the company as its acting CMD. He was given the additional charge for initially for 3 months and subsequently, it was extended 5 times for similar periods.
