450 Litres Of Adulterated Ghee Seized From Jaipur DMart Store

Around 450 litres of adulterated ghee have been seized by the Rajasthan food safety department from a DMart store in Jaipur after a customer's complaint on the quality of ProVedic Ghee.

The area sales manager of DMart has been ordered to report the stock of ProVedic Ghee and Saras Ghee kept in all its stores and warehouses in Jaipur, and not to sell it until further orders, according to a report by Bal Virendra Singh Shekhawat for NDTV Rajasthan.

After a prima facie investigation on Thursday, it was found that around 450 litres of the ghee stocked in the supermarket in Malviya Nagar was adulterated, the report said.

Around 40 litres of fake Saras Ghee were also seized by the officials after confirmation of the adulterated quality from Saras Ghee's quality control manager and analyst. The fake ghee was observed to have the same batch number and series. Many fake packages of Saras ghee were also found at the company's distributor at Vishwakarma Industrial Area, according to the report.

Shares of Avenue Supermarts Ltd., the parent company of DMart, were trading 0.38% higher at Rs 4,879.95 apiece on the NSE, compared to the 0.21% decline in the benchmark Nifty at 12:33 a.m. on Friday.
