Tata Power Takes Note Of Tata Sons’ Requisition, Convenes EGM To Remove Mistry On December 26

Tata Power is the sixth Tata Group company to convene an EGM.

Tata Power Ltd. announced that the board has decided to convene an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) on December 26, seeking to pass a resolution for the removal of Cyrus Mistry.

The EGM was convened after the majority shareholder, Tata Sons sent a special notice and requisition on November 22, Tata Power said in a stock exchange filing. But unlike some of the board meetings at other Tata Group companies, Cyrus Mistry who is still the chairman of Tata Power did preside over the meeting today, which was held at the Tata Group headquarters, Bombay House.

Tata Power is the sixth Tata Group company, to convene an EGM, with Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (TCS) being the first one to hold a shareholders’meeting on December 13.

On November 11, Tata Sons had sent notices to most of the Tata Group companies asking them to call EGMs seeking Mistry’s removal as the chairman.
